But, all of our Christmas decorations are boxed up in St. Croix and we don’t really want to buy a bunch of Christmas stuff that we will have to give away or sell before leaving Puerto Rico. And we are going to be traveling for the majority of the holiday season, so we didn’t want to do anything too extravagant at our house here in Puerto Rico. What to do? With a pouty face, I explained to Aaron that it wouldn’t be Christmas without a tree.
We considered chopping down a small pine tree from one of the fields nearby (yes there are pine trees here) but assumed that would be frowned upon. I was planning on cutting out a tree out of cardboard or something lame when Aaron decided to build a tree out of wood. Perfect! We went to Home Depot and purchased some untreated 1x6 boards, a few strands of lights, some snowflake decorations, and spray paint (less than $20 total). Aaron had the tree built in no time and it is wonderful! And so much fun to make!
Now I officially feel like it is Christmas at our house :)
