Aaron found a picture online of sugar cookies that looked like sand dollars months ago and I swear he has been begging for these cookies ever since. I don't usually keep sliced almonds on hand, so I just ignored his continued requests. We eventually bought some almonds (he was persistent) and were having people over for dinner one night. I figured it was time to make these cookies and got out all of my supplies. I used my normal sugar cookie recipe, arranged the sliced almonds in a star shape, and sprinkled some cinnamon and sugar on top. They looked wonderful and tasted fantastic too. My sugar cookie recipe makes about 5 dozen cookies, so we had these yummy treats for quite some time :) I will definitely be making these again one day.
Easter is here and I couldn't resist making sugar cookies. Especially since we are getting together with friends tomorrow. We have a turkey smoking in the smoker, potato salad in the fridge, homemade sandwich buns baked, and a bunch of delicious cookies ready to enjoy. The sugar cookies have a lot of butter in them, so they taste fantastic! I even added a bit of cream cheese to the frosting for extra goodness :)
Aaron helped me decorate the cookies and we were able to do them pretty quickly since he insisted that we stick with the same design on each one (men…). I usually spend hours icing the cookies but today was quick. The statistician in me couldn't resist taking a random sample of five cookies to test… All five of the five tasted scored a 10 on texture, butteriness, and awesomeness :) I had to make sure everyone would be pleased :)
