Step 1: Trip to our favorite store (Home Depot) and purchase a piece of plywood, some primer, a roller, and some chalkboard paint.
Since we have so many projects going on all the time, we thought it would be nice to have a board somewhere in the house to keep track of everything. A dry erase board would be an easy option but they are kind of pricy here on island and not the most beautiful addition to a wall. I have seen quite a few posts about people painting their refrigerator with chalkboard paint. Awesome right!? Instead of painting the actual refrigerator, we decided to make a framed chalkboard to hang on the side of the refrigerator. This way we could remove it if we wanted. Aaron might get tired of the never ending to do list :) Maybe I will surprise him and only write love notes... Step 1: Trip to our favorite store (Home Depot) and purchase a piece of plywood, some primer, a roller, and some chalkboard paint. Step 1: Paint two coats of primer. Step 3: Paint 2-3 coats of the chalkboard paint. We forgot to take a picture after this step, but you can imagine that the white board above is now black. Step 4: Build a frame out of scrap 1x4 and paint the frame. And thats it! Super simple and easy project. Now we have a chalkboard to write down projects and love notes to each other :) Since Aaron is the artistic one, he created the majority of the first drawing. We have decided to call our house Casa Buena Vida which is essentially translated into House of the Good Life. Fitting right? I love it! So happy we built this for our house :) Now I get to draw fun pictures each day. If we had kids, I would definitely paint an entire wall with chalkboard paint. So much fun!
