A few months after the peacocks were gone, we started noticing tiny holes in our plants. All of our ivy was beginning to look like swiss cheese. After researching a bit, we determined that the culprit for these holes were snails. And boy did we have a lot of snails! I mean they were everywhere! We put out some snail bait a few times but that hardly made a dent.
What should one do in this situation? Well I had an idea. Become the Super Snail Hunter at night! With a flashlight and bucket, I began plucking the snails off of the walls, sidewalks, plants, and pretty much everywhere. I collect approximately 100 snails each time I hunt. They seem to like all of the new growth the best and were really hurting my transplanted seedlings. It was time for them to be exterminated.
Aaron tends to make fun of my snail hunting, but someone has to do it! Our new plan is to get chickens and let them feast on the snails. Hopefully we will be able to build a chicken coup within a few weeksBut until then, I remain the Super Snail Hunter at night :)
