From the WikiHow link on recovering from Chikungunya:
"The subacute phase of Chikungunya occurs from a month to three months after the acute phase of illness ends. During the subacute phase, the main symptom is arthritis. Aside from this, disorders of blood vessels like Raynaud’s phenomenon can occur.
- Raynaud’s phenomenon is a condition where there is decreased blood flow to the hands and feet in response to cold or emotional stress."
My current prolonged symptoms are joint pain and Raynaud's phenomenon. I have never even heard about Raynaud's phenomenon before! Really? A phenomenon? I think it is a phenomenon that I was lucky enough to get bit by a tiny mosquito that inflicted me with the "nightmare virus"!
Even as I am typing this my left hand is starting to go numb. I have not slept well for three days now because the pain wakes me up multiple times in the night. Have you ever woken up after sleeping on your arm and it felt "dead" when you woke up? Well, that is what this feels like except it also hurts really bad and doesn't go away :( This numbness and pain is making it really difficult for me to work since my job involves typing all day.
According to the WikiHow site, I should expect these symptoms to last one to three months. Awesome.... And after this phase I get the possibility of experiencing the chronic phase. Wonderful News! Just fantastic! So ecstatic! Can't wait!
Super duper sad face....
