If you are experiencing the arthritis pain after the chikungunya virus, these two treatments are commonly suggested in research articles found online. If you bring a few of these articles with you, a doctor should be willing to try this treatment to help you manage the pain. I am almost at the three month mark and have not seen any reduction in the joint pain as of yet. If the pain persists past three months, I will be scheduling an appointment with a rheumatologist to make sure I am not one of the lucky ones that develop rheumatory arthritis.
The virus is spreading rapidly in our area and has recently been acquired locally in some states. There are many ways to keep mosquito bites at a minimum. Be careful with perfumes and fragrant soaps and lotions. This sometimes makes you an immediate yummy morsel for a mosquito. I have just purchased lavender perfume to replace my other fragrances since lavender supposedly repels mosquitos. Wear light colored clothing, long sleeves and pants if possible, spray yourself with Deet (bug spray), and dump out any standing water.
Hopefully a vaccine will be created soon for this virus :)
