I love when June arrives because all of the Flamboyant trees on St. Croix begin blooming. Most of the trees that I have seen on St. Croix are red or orange. The flowers are absolutely beautiful! Usually, one of the petals is white with specks of orange and red and looks slightly similar to an orchid flower. Doesn't this tree make you want to sit underneath the branches with a nice book? You do have to be careful when picking these flowers because the pollen will stain your clothes (learned from experience). I like to think that the Flamboyant blooms are natures way of signaling the start of hurricane season. In that case, we have lots of prep work to do :)
